BitLocker Drive Encryption In Sleep Mode

BitLocker is a security feature in Windows Vista Enterprise and Ultimate editions that works only if the machine is in shutdown mode, i.e. powered off or in hibernation.

BitLocker doesn't perform security checks, e.g. no USB key is required for disk access, when awaking from sleep mode.

Hence, you are advised to set your computer to hibernate after a short period of time when in sleep mode for increased security protection.
